Office cryoablation for heavy menstrual bleeding
Doctors at the Women's Health Center among the first in MS to offer office cryoblation therapy for heavy periods.
See Enterprise-Journal Newspaper article on Her Option at The Women's Health Center here
One in five women suffer from heavy periods. This type of bleeding can be emotionally and physically draining. Many women with excessive monthy cycles are forced to limit their activities and lifestyles.
Her Option is a safe, 15 minute procedure performed in the comfort of our office. During the procedure a small device called a cryoprobe is placed through the cervix. Sub-zero temperatures are used to shrink the lining of the uterus. Following the procedure, most women will have their period greatly reduced to a more normal, lighter monthy flow. Some will have their period elimiated altogether.
In a clinical study, 91% of patients surveyed at two years following treatment were very or extremely satisfied. 96% of women surveyed said they would recommend the Her Option Procedure to a friend.
Her Option is not a good option for women who may want children in the future.
Call our office today to find out if you would benefit from this highly effective procedure.

NovaSure® is a quick, safe, and simple procedure to lighten or stop your periods, without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy. Over 1 million women have had the procedure performed...with excellent results!
Whereas the Her Option procedure involves a thin freezing wand ('cryoprobe'), NovaSure uses radiofrequency energy (heat) to treat the lining the uterus. Like Her Option, NovaSure is only appropriate for pre-menopausal women who have completed childbearing and do not wish to become pregnant in the future.
Both Her Option and NovaSure are excellent alternatives to hysterectomy.
We perform NovaSure as an outpatient procedure at the hospital.

LSH: The 'Rapid Recovery Hysterectomy'
Have you or someone you know been advised to have a hysterectomy? If so, it is important to know all of your treatment options. Recent advances in surgical technologies have enabled physicians to remove the uterus, fallopian tubes and, if indicated, the ovaries without having to make a large abdominal or any vaginal incisions. Using a high resolution video “eye” and miniaturized vessel sealing tools, entire hysterectomy cases can be performed from start to finish – all through one of three tiny puncture sites around the belly button. The high tech surgery, known as laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy, or LSH for short, has revolutionized the treatment of common gynecologic conditions, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis and heavy menstrual bleeding. Remarkably, women who undergo the minimally invasive procedure have reported much less post-operative pain, fewer infections, and an overall quicker recovery as compared to traditional abdominal or vaginal hysterectomy. The doctors at The Women's Health Center are among the most experienced LSH surgeons in Mississippi.
